Godzilla 2014 – PLOT REVEALED
The new Godzilla movie coming in 2014 will star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, and Elizabeth Olsen. This new entry into the Godzilla franchise will bring us new monster action and brand new, classic Godzilla scenes worthy of Toho studios, his originator. I believe that Legendary Pictures has given away the plot of their new movie in the releases and the trailer.
This movie has a strong military presence and tells its tale from the perspective of several families, as well as scientists who have dedicated themselves to problems of the enormity of Godzilla. These scientists are men like Bryan Cranston’s character. Together, they join a conglomerate of scientists and leaders across the world to end the Earth’s problems, but unwittingly release even more titanic problems.
We can discover many plot points from an analysis of the movie’s new trailer. The following is from http://www.godzilla-movies.net:
Legendary also released the following synopsis:
An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.
This trailer and the ideas I’ve heard about the new Godzilla have me hyped. The monster will be 800 feet in height, the largest ever, and seems to be part of a throwback story reminiscent of the original Godzilla in 1954. However, there will be other monsters in the film in addition to Godzilla. It is the spider monster that can be seen biting the train in the trailer.
I believe Godzilla branches out from a comment on the atomic threat to an allegory about the dangers of science or uncontrolled technology. However, Bryan Cranston’s character can clearly be seen dealing with the dangers of radiation, as he has to lock away his wife in isolation. Perhaps it is bombs or humanity’s abuse of the Earth that creates Godzilla.
Ken Watanabe will also be in this film and will be another scientist or authority from the world organization, perhaps with a competing solution to the world’s problem. We can also see a huge military presence in the trailer, as they halo jump from thousands of feet up and explore a destroyed subway in two separate scenes. I think it is within the subway where the military sets up a bomb, perhaps a nuclear device that will try to take out the monsters The bomb has no effect, as the trailer shows.
The trailer has military and political intrigue, but contains a grand-scale that is refreshing to see in a film, much less a Godzilla movie.
The main characters in this movie are Joe Brody, played by Bryan Cranston, and Juliette Binoche, who plays Sandra Brody. The movie will follow Joe Brody as he searches for answers and interacts with Watanabe, who plays up his authority role as a leading scientist. In the movie, Godzilla travels from Japan to the USA to wreck havoc.
The following is a synopsis from totalmovie.com:
There is a pre-title sequence set in 1954, and then the movie jumps to 1999 where disaster occurs at a Japanese nuclear power plant which is home to Joe Brody (Bryan Cranston ) and Sandra Brody (Juliette Binoche ). What exactly caused the disaster remains a mystery, and then the movie jumps forward 15 more years ahead with Joe Brody still searching for answers leading him to meeting scientists Watanabe and Sally Hawkins as well as military commander David Straitharn. It’s said that Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) now becomes the principal player in the movie (presently in Hawaii), who is Joe Brody’s estranged son and wants to get back to his kid and wife (Elizabeth Olsen) – both who are in San Francisco when Godzilla arrives in Hawaii.
The director shared some behind the scenes info on April 25th.
