Who HASN’T auditioned for Star Wars episode 7??

I was curious about Star Wars news this morning and found a PLETHORA, a mountain, and a gigantic pile of rumors.  Yes, there is a lot of information flying around about Star Wars 7.  However, it is clear they are trying to cast the next generation of Star Wars and continue to look for someone young to fit the mold.

Several months ago, Zac Efron and Ryan Gosling were reported to have auditioned at one point.  Screenrant.com reported that they looked the part of Luke’s son, a young type capable of filling that role.  I’m not sure if I believe that.

Screenrant.com also later reported that Saoirse Ronan had auditioned for a Star Wars role.  Reports later came out that she didn’t get it.  That’s too bad.

Joblo.com reports that Jack O’Connell and Matt Smith are both up for a “key” role in Star Wars and have met with JJ Abrams.  It sounds like Jack O’Connell is in the lead for a role.  I’ve never actually seen any of his movies but I hear he’s in the new 300 movie coming up.  I might actually see that one.

Bleedingcool.com reports that Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Cumberbatch, Matt Smith, Rachel Hurd Wood, Jason Flemyng have all been contacted or have interest in Star Wars.  Matt Smith we already know about but I’m not sure how true the others are.  Benedict Cumberbatch sure is a versatile actor if he is selected and certainly has it in with JJ “Star Trek” Abrams if he were to get a part.  If I were someone like that, I’d want to be the villain, the most memorable badass in film.

JJ Abrams recently saw over 2,500 unknown actors at an opening casting call in the UK, according to rollingstone.com.  Yes, 2,500.  Holy crap. Some people were camped out, like it was a Playstation 4 or something.  Anyway, only 75 of those got call-backs.  Dang that’s a small number.  How do they widdle it down?  They must be looking for something specific!  It’s crazy!
